Roe V. Wade Supreme Court Decision Statement

For decades the Knights of Columbus has fought for the rights of the unborn and the negative effects abortion has had on women.

Today, the United States Supreme Court handed down one of its most life-affirming decisions in decades. In 1973, the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade struck down state laws that protected life based on the unsound and faulty reasoning that any law restricting access to abortion prior to an unborn child’s “viability” was unconstitutional. Because of this decision, abortion on-demand, right up until birth became the law in our nation.

On this historic day, it is important for us, as Knights of Columbus, to continue to pray that the nation embraces the truth of the destructive nature and history of abortion and that we, here in Idaho, continue our efforts to work with state officials to ensure the viciousness and cruelty of abortion come to an end in our great state.
This is also a time for us to continue our support of life-affirming centers throughout Idaho with our life-saving Ultra-Sound initiative and through our new program Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) program that you will all be hearing about soon.
I thank each and every Knight in Idaho who has worked tirelessly for the rights of the unborn and all of those that are on the margins. I pray that God Bless our nation, our order, and all of you.

Vivat Jesus,

Roy Bartholomay
State Deputy
